As a Director, Office of Antiboycott Compliance, you will perform the following duties:
Oversee the conduct of the Office of Antiboycott Compliance that has national or international impacts on the antiboycott compliance program. Ensure that these operations are accomplished in a manner that makes the most effective use of Department resources.
Develop ways in which antiboycott operations and research projects can be enhanced and the effectiveness of research and operations staff improved. Makes changes and improvements to research and operations that will facilitate the most efficient and economical operations.

CBP's Intellectual Property Enforcement Branch briefed eRecordation holders on August 27, 2026, on changes to the recordation application, future expanded pre-seizure disclosure authority, pending legislation. . . .

10. Expeditors News: "CBP Requests Comments on CTPAT and Foreign Export Documentation Expansion"

In an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) published in the Federal Register, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking comments on potential new requirements related to supply chain traceability and collecting foreign export documentation.
CBP is proposing to mandate the submission of foreign export documentation that could include export declarations, commercial documents, certificates of origin, export licenses or transport documents that could be "helpful to CBP in verifying and reconciling entry and entry summary information.
CBP is also requesting feedback on how it could expand its Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) program and benefits for participants. CBP is particularly looking for feedback on how CTPAT partners use supply chain traceability solutions and how accessible that information should be to the agency.
In addition, CBP is soliciting comments regarding Manufacturer Identification Codes (MIDs) and the Global Business Identifiers (GBIs) test program.
These proposed rules are in response to the "Strengthening Customs Enforcement" Executive Order (EO)14411, signed by President Trump on June 3, 2026.
Comments are being accepted by CBP on or before December 1, 2026, via the Federal eRulemaking Portal: http://www.regulations.gov.

U.S. considers fresh round of tariffs on semiconductors. "The duties will be imposed on an expanded range of tech products made alongside chips, including laptops, data center servers, and gaming hardware, eight people familiar with the matter told Politico in a report published Thursday." [CNBC]
Canada excludes seafood from retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods. "Canada will also impose 50 percent tariffs on copper wire and wood charcoal, additions the Department of Finance made Wednesday to its list of covered products." [The Hill]
Bessent: G20 countries should use tariffs to protect industries from cheap imports. "Bessent told reporters that he had warned other nations at the beginning of President Donald Trump's second term that the new U.S. 'tariff wall' would mean that Chinese goods would flood their markets." Brazil, U.S. agree to hold new meetings to discuss tariffs as talks resume. "The parties agreed to meet again at the ministerial level to review the progress achieved during technical meetings that are set to be held in the coming weeks." [Reuters]

On August 24, 2026, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced "Operation Economic Outcast," a series of economic sanctions measures targeting Iran and persons that continue to maintain economic ties with Iran or facilitate the Iranian government's access to financial resources despite already-robust U.S. primary and secondary sanctions. The measures expand the categories of Iran-related conduct that may expose non-U.S. persons to secondary sanctions and signal an increased U.S. enforcement focus on foreign parties continuing to do business with Iran.
The actions include: (i) five new sectoral sanctions determinations; (ii) suspension of certain General Licenses (GLs) and regulatory general licenses; (iii) updated guidance regarding sanctions risks associated with Iranian demands for payments or other requirements for passage through the Strait of Hormuz; and (iv) the designation of nearly 60 entities, individuals and vessels. . . . 13. ST&R Trade Report: "Medical Device Facility Registrations Due This Year"

Foreign and domestic medical device facilities that do not properly renew their registrations with the Food and Drug Administration can be locked out of the U.S. market.
Renewals for such facilities are due each year. Owners or operators of establishments involved in the production and distribution of medical devices intended for commercial distribution in the U.S., including those that are imported for export only, must register annually with the FDA. These facilities include foreign and domestic contract manufacturers, specification developers, relabelers, repackers, and initial importers and foreign exporters. Most such establishments must also list the devices they make. Failure to submit, renew, update, or cancel a registration can result in import restrictions.
Foreign and domestic medical device facilities, as well as the companies that source from them, should ensure they renew their registrations on time. The current renewal period opens Oct. 1 and will close Dec. 31. Renewals are mandatory regardless of when the initial registration occurred. . . . [Full article]
14. Volkov: "When You Fail to Fix an Already Flagged Compliance Gap"

At $125 million, breaking the law can never be a cost of doing business. UBS Bank was hit with a $125 million FinCEN penalty, the largest ever against a broker-dealer under the Bank Secrecy Act. This is UBS's second Bank Secrecy Act action in less than a decade. In 2018, regulators told UBS: fix your foreign currency wire monitoring. It never did.
The same gap stayed open for years, letting more than $10 billion in transactions move through unchecked. Layered on top, UBS failed to properly vet high-risk customers tied to Russia and Latin America, even after one of its own affiliates raised internal concerns about their sources of wealth. That warning went nowhere. UBS admitted it acted willfully and intentionally.
Now, what's the lesson? A prior enforcement action isn't the end of the story. Regulators check whether you actually fixed what they flagged, and unfixed gaps read as willful the second time.
High-risk geography demands ongoing monitoring, not a one-time onboarding check, and no institution's size or reputation buys protection. UBS is one of the most respected private banks in the world, and that bought it nothing here but headaches.
